The Buffalo Bill Historical Center Privacy Policy
Through its privacy policy, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center is committed to protecting the privacy of its Web site visitors, customers, members, donors, e-newsletter subscribers, and friends.
The Historical Center does not collect personal information about individuals such as names and postal and/or e-mail addresses except when it is knowingly and voluntarily provided by such individuals for purchases, registrations, donations, and e-newsletter subscriptions. In such cases, we will not disclose personal information to any third party.
This Web site uses “cookies”—files stored on your computer by your Web browser—to optimize your online experience. These files are not linked to personally identifying information and will not be shared with any third party. We also gather anonymous traffic data—including your computer’s IP address, browser information, and reference site domain—for the purpose of evaluating and improving our Web site.
When you make a purchase in our Museum Store
Our Museum Store asks you to provide the information necessary to fulfill your order. This is the same information requested when you place an order by telephone or through the mail: name, billing and shipping addresses, telephone number, e-mail address, and credit card number. For reasons of security, credit card information is not stored permanently on the Web server. We retain your order information for our records, but this information is never shared with third parties.
This Web site automatically collects some anonymous information about you when you request pages through your browser. This information is used to keep track of your shopping basket and to help us monitor how you and other visitors use the site, allowing us to provide an optimal shopping experience and better service throughout the site. The information collected automatically by the Web server does not, however, contain anything that can identify you personally, such as your e-mail address.
When you make a donation or purchase a membership
The Historical Center asks you to provide the information necessary to process and service your membership, such as name, billing and shipping address, telephone/fax number, e-mail address, and credit card information. We do not store full credit card numbers; only the last four digits are displayed in our database as evidence of payment method.
E-mail policy
We read every e-mail message we receive. If you e-mail the Historical Center via our staff directory or “contact us” pages, your message and e-mail address is automatically sent to the appropriate department within the Historical Center. This department may choose to save your information in the event you decide to contact us again.
Please feel free to contact us either by telephone or at any of the e-mail addresses listed in our staff directory with questions. We strive to make sure your question or comment reaches the appropriate person.
